When we plan art activities we have noticed that the children tend to want to paint on themselves as much as they enjoy putting the paint on their papers. Ms. Mana and I embraced the idea and stripped them down to diapers (we sunscreened tummies and backs) for our morning painting session. We took the paint outside, hung paper along the fence (in the off chance some paint might end up there) and let the children "dive" right in. Madeline  asked for a paintbrush and found a stick to use when she found that we didn't provide any brushes. The children used their fingers, arms, legs, tummies and toes to get the paint onto the paper. They also began to paint themselves and one another. When the painting fun was done it was time to get cleaned up. We had two wading pools ready for rinsing off in. The children all had fun jumping in and getting clean. Kambree thought that taking an "outside bath" was just so silly, she couldn't stop giggling. After all the painting and splashing we were all worn out. As I have said for years ... the bigger the mess, the bigger the fun (and the better the nap!)
