We have had a very "buggy" week. We have been keeping a close eye on our caterpillars, they are getting bigger every day. We have had pretend bugs hiding in the potting soil inside our sensory table. The children have had a lot of fun finding the bugs and lining them up along the edge in a 'bug parade'.
Today we examined nightcrawlers. The children were a little leery of actually touching the worms at first. They all found it to be hilarious when the worms wiggled and squirmed across the table and on my finger. Before long, Kambree worked up the courage to poke at a worm, then pick one up. It took Tayten a little while, but after a few false starts and lots of giggles she picked up a worm (and quickly put it back in the box when it wiggled!) Colin had no qualms at all about our slippery little friends and dug right in. He stretched the worms out to see how long they were, let a worm crawl on his head and his shoulder, and even tried to give one a little kiss. Even Mrs. Candy is not quite THAT brave!
