4 Months Old

Isaac had his four month check up at Dr. Banfield's office today. He is very healthy and is growing right on schedule. He weighs 14.2 pounds and is 24 inched long. Isaac continues to measure under 50% in all size measurements. This is not a problem however because he is growing at a steady rate and has almost doubled his birth weight.

We talked to the doctor about a problem Isaac has been having. On two occasions he has started screaming and crying when he is with his grandmas. It usually happens when they try to put him to sleep. Dr. Banfield says Isaac is experiencing stranger anxiety and it is completely normal. He says he prefers mommy and daddy even though he is familiar with his grandmas. This is a milestone that is usually reached at 6 months so Isaac is advanced in his ability to understand object permanence (the ability to recognize that he is separate from others and that mom and dad are not always with him).

Isaac got his 4 month immunization shots today. He cried only for a minutes and quickly forgot about the pain. The nurse gave him a teether toy as a gift for being such a good boy.
